David was born and raised in and around Walsall and Birmingham. He was a skinny, camp, ginger kid but would blossom into The Very Miss Dusty O, becoming the undisputed Queen of Soho.

As Dusty, she and her extensive Vivienne Westwood wardrobe, would travel the world as a guest DJ and style icon.

In his memoir, The Boy Who Sat By The Window, he tells his extraordinary story from a challenging early life, to the struggle of the early days in London and the pain of the AIDS pandemic, to becoming close friends with Boy George who was an early inspiration. There is so much more of course.

The Boy Who Sat By The Window was published in September 2022 by Mardle Books.
